Electrical and Embedded Hardware Engineer

We have built one of the most widely deployed automated drone intelligence platforms in the world, and develop technologies in robotics, remote sensing, artificial intelligence and communications. We are growing our elite team of smart, hard working engineers who are combining their skills to lead one of the fastest growing industries in the world.

We are seeking an experienced engineer with mixed skills across electrical and embedded systems engineering. We have custom PCBs, sensors and microcontrollers throughout our products and projects, and are looking for a jack of all trades who enjoys a variety of hardware technical challenges. This person should be comfortable digging into new challenges and platforms they haven’t encountered before, and have experience with analog and digital circuits as well as embedded software.

We are open to considering candidates with a STEM OPT or H1B visa as well as permanent residents and US citizens.

Qualifications / Requirements

GreenSight works on cutting edge technologies and assumes that employees will routinely learn new skills on the job. We value creativity, drive and proven ability to pick up new skills over specific past experience and skills, but some of the topics we’d be interested in seeing experience with include:

  • Arm Cortex microcontrollers and software
  • BLDC motor controller circuits and software, including existing platforms like blheli, VESC, or TI InstaSPIN
  • Lithium chemistry battery management systems such as TI BQ series or others
  • Typical robotics sensors such as GPS receivers, MEMS IMUs, gyros, magnetometers
  • Integration of radios such as Wifi or 4G LTE into robotics or embedded systems
  • Integrating imaging chips or thermal imagers with embedded systems like nVidia Jetson, Raspberry Pi or FPGAs
  • Embedded software development under Linux or lightweight RTOS’s such as ChibiOS, NuttX, or FreeRTOS
  • PCB design software such as KiCAD or Altium
  • Familiarity with setting up and using electrical test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and spectrum analyzers
  • Electrical test and acceptance test design and implementation
  • Electrical prototyping skills including soldering and reflow SMT components, breadboarding proto circuits, and modifying PCBAs

Compensation / Benefits

Salary for this position is strongly dependent on experience and education and expected to be between $90k and $140k.  We anticipate hiring multiple individuals at various levels of seniority.

Senior Robotics Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking an intelligent, intellectually curious and highly-capable Robotics Engineer to be a high-level contributor on the development of software for our drones and other robotic systems. You will scope, plan, and execute robotic software systems development and implementation across GreenSight's technology portfolio including drones, ground systems, cameras, and electronics. You should be comfortable working semi-autonomously while meeting long-term goals.

Qualifications / Requirements

Attributes relevant to the position (not all required)  include:

  • BS or MS in software engineering or computer science and 1+ years professional (not internship) work experience
  • Experience developing software for autonomous vehicles
  • Competency in Python, C++
  • Experience developing software on embedded Linux platforms and realtime operating systems such as ChibiOS, NuttX or FreeRTOS is a plus
  • Can formulate software definitions and simulation/control models for novel aircraft and robot configurations, using ArduPilot/PX4, ROS, or Gazebo
  • Experience interfacing embedded hardware with sensors and mechanical actuators
  • Experience simulating robotic behavior in Gazebo
  • Implement robotic localization and navigation schemes using fused data from LIDARs, depth cameras, IMUs etc.
  • Familiarity with software development process tools such as Jira, git, gdb, etc.
  • Good written/verbal communication 
  • Startup experience is also a major plus
  • Experience and/or interest in leading projects is a plus

Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a smart, highly-capable engineer to lead projects and participate in design, development and testing of the mechanical elements of Greensight’s custom-developed UAV’s, ground, and amphibious robots. The position requires a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and at least a year of hands-on experience with mechanical robotic systems. The mechanical engineer works as part of a small tight-knit development team consisting of a variety of specialized engineers. They must have strong written and verbal communications skills, and be comfortable communicating via Slack and e-mail in a fast paced, small team startup environment.

Qualifications / Requirements

Specific tasks that might be performed by the mechanical engineer include:

  • Creating and analyzing UAV and robot concepts
  • Completing detailed designs (sufficient for manufacture) of mechanical components in CAD
  • Building prototype components in our machine shop or via 3D printing
  • Optimizing parts and assemblies for mass manufacture (injection molding, for instance)
  • Overseeing manufacture of prototype components at outside vendors.
  • Testing and characterization of UAV and robot propulsion systems
  • Participating in flight testing of prototype UAV’s.
  • Performing structural and thermal analysis of components and assemblies
  • Contributing to company wide quality management efforts
  • Managing development programs
  • Contributing to proposals and business development efforts

Director of Software Architecture

We are seeking a smart, highly-capable Software Architect to lead the design, development, and maintenance of GreenSights core software assets across multiple fielded products and development activities. This person must be mentally flexible and have demonstrated the ability to pick up new skills quickly. This position will create a unified platform architecture across our globally deployed robotic systems, AI/ML processing pipelines, and user web applications and ensure alignment with the architecture in both internally and externally funded development activities. This role will include oversight of 10-15 software developers with a mix of skills in embedding control, data processing, and cloud application development.

Qualifications / Requirements

Some of the qualifications and experience we are looking for in candidates include:

  • BS or MS in computer or software engineering or computer science. 8+ years experience with MS, 12+ years experience with BS.
  • Experience in software development and project management within cloud robotic and/or IoT systems.
  • Experience in multi-tenant web application development and maintenance.
  • Solid understanding of a variety of programming tools and development platforms.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Highly analytical mindset, with an ability to see both the big picture and the details.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with revision control systems and/or continuous integration tools.
  • Experience working with cloud computing environments.
  • Experience productizing and deploying software. Release and dependency management proficiency.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • Collaborating with various stakeholders to determine and document software requirements.
  • Creating high-level product specifications and design documents.
  • Working with the development teams to document architectural blueprints for multiple concurrent projects around the core software product.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving issues with coding or design.
  • Ensuring that you and the team adhere to development schedules and deadlines.
  • Reviewing regular progress reports, setting goals and priorities.
  • Establishing testing approaches for products to measure functional requirements.
  • Developing and testing software for multiple government and commercial R&D projects.
  • Contributing to proposals and business development efforts.
